OPTIO Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System)

Engaging in offshore work activities, particularly coupled with helicopter travel, introduces a spectrum of inherent risks that demand meticulous attention and preparedness. The dynamic nature of the offshore environment and helicopter travel bring its own set of complexities and potential hazards from inclement weather conditions to technical malfunctions. To address the multifaceted challenges inherent in offshore work activities and helicopter travel, a tailored solution emerges in the form of Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) with a specialized focus on the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS). By emphasizing the critical initial safety and emergency response requisites, BOSIET with CA-EBS not only equips participants with essential skills but also plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of preparedness and competence.

This BOSIET training program aims to equip participants with a comprehensive skill set to manage and control offshore safety hazards effectively. Participants will undergo specialized training in responding to helicopter emergencies, gaining practical expertise in Helicopter Escape Techniques to enhance their preparedness during critical situations. The curriculum includes in-depth instruction on the proper use of the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS), both in simulated in-water scenarios and traditional settings. Sea survival and first aid training will focus on instilling life-saving techniques, while the fire-fighting component ensures participants are adept at handling fire emergencies in offshore environments. The overarching objective is to empower individuals to enhance the overall resilience and proficiency of participants in the dynamic offshore sector.

Why Pursue OPITO BOSIET Course?

  • Recognize the inherent hazards specific to offshore oil and gas installations, delineate potential risks associated with these hazards, and elucidate the implementation of controls aimed at eliminating or mitigating these risks.

  • Identify pertinent safety regulations pertaining to offshore operations and expound upon fundamental safety management concepts integral to the offshore industry.

  • Showcase proficiency in utilizing safety equipment and adhering to procedures during helicopter emergencies through simulated scenarios. This includes a particular emphasis on helicopter escape procedures following ditching.

  • Exhibit competence in sea survival techniques and basic first aid practices in simulated environments.

  • Illustrate the effective utilization of basic fire fighting equipment and the application of self-rescue techniques in situations with limited visibility, encompassing scenarios involving smoke-filled areas.

Who can Study OPITO BOSIET?

  • This training programme is designed to meet the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) during offshore helicopter travel.
